Moving 1200 miles away, what's the best option?

my friend moved from TX southeast to Los Angeles and she found the cheapest fastest way to move all her stuff was. She hired a service company to ship her car for I believe it was either $300 or $600 and she filled the car up with as much as possible and then she packed a couple of bags and flew there. She said it was the best option possible.
