Question about shoplifting?

I recently got caught in a store for shoplifting and security told me that an amount of fine(i dont know how much) will be sent by post from RLP(Retail loss prevention). No police were involved. Now my question is, if i pay the fine , will i be still on the record of RLP? if you know anything about that, please let me know.
